Several of last weeks sessions...

These are a few of some of the weekday shoots last week before we headed to KC for the weekend. The first one is one of my baby planners, and man had he grown and changed!!! We got the best smiles out of him this time of any of the sessions, and was the absolute cutest on the little Harley. He just fiddled away like he was working on the motorcycle trying to get it to run! Fariba- Cant wait to work on the rest and it will be sometime today when they are up! Then were a couple of little cuteys.. Two different sessions, but they were cousins. The little boy was so full of personality and little smiles that could melt your heart, and the little girl was absolutely precious. We did half the session and she was getting a little cranky, so mom fed her a little bit and she went right to sleep! I work hard to get sleeping newborns, but have never gotten one this old to sleep for some shots. These sleeping ones were absolutely to die for! I still am in awe every time I look at a little sleeping baby. There is just nothing in the world more perfect and relaxing I do believe! Tina & Angie - Hope you enjoy seeing these, and Ill get the rest posted today or tomorrow!

Kansas City

This past weekend we were in KC visiting my family for an extended stay, and also getting some work in while I was there, which is usually the case. Between visiting my grandpa and grandpa in the nursing home, visiting some old friends from college, and trying to have some fun with the kids, I managed to squeeze in 3 photo sessions. One was senior pictures of my step-sisters, step daughter (did you follow that?!), one was our friends from college's kids (both of which I will post some highlights from later this weekend, and the other which I'm writing about now was a client who is friends from one of my long-time clients from here in town. She has watched my clients pictures from the beginning and finally called me to do a session. They were going to drive up here, but it worked out to fit it in on a trip for us to go up to visit my family. I LOVE shooting in different locations so it was a real treat! Leslie I'm so glad we met, your family is so adorable, and I loved your excitement over the session! The images from this session are so priceless. Pure family fun and interaction! My favorite from the session has got to be one I'm posting of Dad and the two kids. Dad was in Iraq while their oldest was about 1, so when all three of them were gathering around the Iraq memorial at the park we were out and you could see the reflection of the three of them in the black granite of the memorial, the moment was priceless! Leslie- I have a couple of more sessions to finish up before I can finish yours, but it should be posted by Sunday. In the meantime I hope you enjoy these few as a little bit of a teaser!

Sometimes its just perfect..

Sometimes its just perfect even when kiddos aren't doing exactly what I had in mind. I usually try to set the stage a bit by getting certain props out and getting the kiddos to start to play, but these two picked up their ring around the rosie game totally on their own! It was absolutely the most perfect little moment, and it was nothing that I had in mind at all! Most often my favorite photographs are these spur of the moment catches and not the ones that are more contrived. Jacki- Your girls are so precious, and loved this session. Pure innocence at its best!! I'm so glad the session was when it was because I think the rain set in for the day about 10 minutes after you guys left! I hope to get your session posted tomorrow morning!

Slowing Down...

Just a quick note without any pictures for a change. Just wanted to let everyone waiting on picture orders that I am running a bit behind. With just myself running every aspect of the business its hard to find the balance of that perfect amount of sessions. I took on more than what I can really handle over the past couple of months as I have that problem of having a hard time saying no!. But, to run a business successfully, I'm going to have to set my limits and cut back to 5 a week. In the haste to get everything done, taking on more sessions only causes me to make mistakes and not get to spend as much time editing with each session that I like to do, and spending that custom time on collages, storyboards and cards. Any who, if your waiting on an order, I expect to have everything hanging out there to everyone by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, and for the meantime Ill be cutting back a bit. I know how that Christmas rush is though, and everyone wants to get Christmas photos in, so I do have it in the works to hire someone to do my ordering/customer service end of the business for me, which will be a great addition and a welcome change I do believe. By doing that, Ill be able to pick the pace back up without jeopardizing the quality/time I get to spend with everyone! Thanks to everyone for being patient!

Blast from the Past!

I had two of our good friends from UMR down the weekend before last. They live in St. Louis and now that we all have kids it seems we never get to see each other!! Why is traveling so darn hard once you have kids?!? Their 2 little kiddos are 3 and 3mo. It was so good to meet little Miss "J"! Heather & Jeff- it was so good to see each other and we really need to try to do it more often! Here's a couple of the session, I hope to get your gallery up tonight!!

Hot, Hot, Hot!

Goodness has it been hot! Last Sunday in the heat a friend of mine from where I used to work organized a "picture party" of sorts. A relative of hers has the coolest old log cabin was the original one room homestead that he was born in on the same property they still live in. It is the coolest building, and we have been wanting to do pictures there for some time. She had some of her friends come every half hour and we did little short mini-sessions at the cool location! I only had my two youngest with me, but even managed to get a few of them two. By the end, we were all drenched in sweat, and all the kids had the reddest cheeks. But, of course, the pictures were worth all the sweat!!!
